Low step-through frame and everyday use

On fatbikes, a low step-through frame is the exception rather than the rule. Most models have a high frame that you have to swing your leg over, which can be difficult with luggage on the back or while wearing a long coat. With the L20, you simply step through it. Range of the ENGWE L20

The 48 V, 13 Ah battery, with a total capacity of 624 Wh, is rated for up to 120 kilometers. As with any manufacturer specification, that figure applies to a lightweight rider using the lowest assist level on flat terrain. In everyday use, expect sixty to eighty kilometers. For commuting, that means approximately one charge per week per bike. A full charge takes four to six hours, so you can leave both bikes charging overnight. The stated range is always a test value, so expect somewhat less in practice. Do not leave the battery outside in freezing temperatures; this helps preserve its capacity over time.

Brakes, suspension, and tires

The L20 uses disc brakes and has front suspension. There is no rear suspension, which you notice on cobblestones and speed bumps, although the wide 20-inch tires absorb some of the impact thanks to their air volume. For city rides on asphalt and bike paths, that is sufficient. Each bike weighs 34 kilograms and can carry a total weight of up to 120 kilograms. Seven gears are more than enough for flat terrain in the Netherlands, even with a bag on the rack. Hydraulic brakes occasionally need bleeding, but otherwise require little maintenance. The lights are permanently mounted on the electric bike and run on the main battery.
