Buying a VOGUE bike: e-bike, longtail or cargo bike

Anyone looking for a VOGUE bike almost always means an electric one. VOGUE makes e-bikes for the city, longtails to take a child along on the back, and cargo bikes. They all have a 250 watt motor and assist up to 25 km/h. The difference is in the motor, the drive and how much you want to carry. Below are the models currently in the overview and what to look out for. Which colour and version can be ordered is shown on the product itself. A quick first choice: if you ride the same route through the city every day, an e-bike is enough. If one child needs to come along to school or daycare, look at a longtail. Two or more children, or lots of shopping at once, and you end up with a cargo bike.

VOGUE e-bikes: mid-drive or rear hub motor

In doubt between a Prestige and a Motion? Then the difference is mainly in the motor. The Prestige has a Motinova mid-drive motor with 80 Nm, a 522 Wh battery and seven hub gears. The Artemis has an Ananda M81 mid-drive motor, a belt instead of a chain and also seven gears. The SUV has a Shimano E7000 mid-drive motor, a 720 Wh battery, eight gears and a belt. A mid-drive motor responds to how hard you pedal and works through the gears. You feel that when pulling away and on a bridge. The Motion is built differently: a Bafang H700 rear hub motor with two gears and a belt drive. Simple to use, little maintenance, and with 360 Wh a smaller battery than the rest.

Low or high step-through

The Prestige and the Motion come with a low and a high step-through frame. A low step is nice if you get on and off a lot, with a bag on the handlebar or in clothes you cannot swing a leg over the saddle in. A high step feels a bit sportier. The Artemis and the SUV have a low step. Also look at the weight if you sometimes have to carry the bike up stairs. According to VOGUE the Artemis weighs 26 kilos and the SUV 35 kilos, which is quite a difference.

VOGUE longtails: Wonder and Avalanche

With a longtail you take a child or groceries on the back, without the width of a cargo bike. The VOGUE Wonder has 24-inch tyres, a 960 Wh battery, a front basket and a long rear rack for two children. A child seat fits on the back. The Avalanche has an Ananda M100 mid-drive motor, a stepless Enviolo hub and a belt. Stepless means there are no fixed gears, you simply choose how heavy the pedalling feels. Both have hydraulic disc brakes. Handy with a child on the back, because you stop with little lever force.

VOGUE cargo bikes

The VOGUE cargo bikes are in this overview too: the two-wheeled Carry 2 and three-wheelers such as the Carry 3, the Superior 3 Deluxe, the Journey S and the Avenger. Most have room for four children. On the VOGUE cargo bikes page you can read how they differ in motor, box and what comes as standard, such as a rain cover or a cushion set.
