Anthracite is the darkest gray shade in which we offer the Vogue Wonder Longtail, slightly warmer than black and less severe than the lighter version. With a bike featuring such a long rear frame, that makes a difference, as it affects how large it looks when it is parked in front of your house. Beneath the paint, everything is the same: an extended frame for two children, 24-inch wheels, a low step-through, and front and rear suspension. Parents’ questions are always about the same things: what can it carry, how heavy is it, and how far can you go on a single battery charge.

How many children can ride on the back?

The extended rear frame is designed for two children. The maximum permitted total weight is 180 kilos, including you and your luggage. In practice, it is most comfortable with children who can sit independently and hold on. If there is a little one, you can attach a child seat. As they grow, you can move the cushions backward and the bike will continue to suit them. A windscreen, footrests, and safety bars are separate accessories. Keep in mind that carrying two children on the back requires more deliberate steering and earlier braking than riding a regular bike.

Range of the Vogue Wonder

It comes standard with a 750 Wh battery. If you ride with two children on the back, the motor has to work harder and you will not achieve the stated range on your usual route. If you want more range, you can equip the bike with a second battery, which this model supports. For short trips within built-up areas, one battery will last you a few days. Charging is done from a standard power outlet, so you do not need a separate setup in the shed. If the bike is kept outside, simply remove the battery and charge it indoors.

Brakes and weight

Hydraulic disc brakes are a functional necessity here, not a luxury. With two children on the back, the loaded bike can quickly weigh twice as much as a regular city bike, so you need to be able to stop without putting all the force into your hands. The bike itself weighs 33 kilos. You barely notice that while riding because the weight is low down, but you certainly do when putting it on its stand or pushing it backwards. Always handle it deliberately when parking.

Low step-through and city riding

On a long bike, a low step-through is not a minor detail. You step through the frame instead of swinging your leg over a loaded rear frame with two children on it. That makes a difference at every traffic light. There is suspension at the front and rear, making riding over cobblestone streets more comfortable for everyone on the bike. The motor is 250 W and provides assistance up to 25 kilometres per hour, without a throttle. This makes it an ordinary electric bicycle under Dutch regulations.

Longtail or cargo bike

In a cargo bike, small children are more sheltered and stay drier. You pay for that with width, storage space and handling that you have to learn again. A longtail rides like a regular bike, only longer, and fits in a standard bike rack. For people who live in an apartment or have to go outside through a narrow hallway, that is often the deciding factor. Parking at school also matters: a longtail will usually still fit in a rack, while a cargo bike has to be parked beside it.
