The Vogue Prestige is the e-bike with which Vogue targets the top end of its range, and you can see that in two features: a Motinova mid-drive motor with 80 newton-metres of torque and a Gates belt instead of a chain. A mid-drive motor powers the crank axle, so the force runs through your gears and pedalling itself becomes easier. It rides differently from the rear-wheel motors you usually find in this class. A mid-drive motor is located by the crank axle and transfers its power through the gears. As a result, you get more assistance when accelerating and riding uphill without the bike giving you a push in the back. Eighty newton-metres is substantial for a city bike, which you notice when pulling away from a traffic light and on a steep bridge. The centre of gravity is also low and central, making the bike feel more stable than a model with the motor in the rear wheel.

Gates belt instead of a chain

The Gates belt does not need lubrication, does not rust and does not leave grease on your trouser leg. You therefore hardly need to do anything to it, which saves a considerable number of workshop visits over the years. Two things to know: replacing a belt is a job for a workshop, because it must be tensioned and the frame must be able to open, and you cannot simply shift to another sprocket. Combined with the Shimano Nexus seven-speed hub, this is a system built to last.

Vogue Prestige range

The battery has a capacity of 522 watt-hours and is rated for up to 100 kilometres. That figure applies to the lowest assistance level on flat terrain. With a mid-drive motor capable of delivering 80 newton-metres, the range drops more quickly at the highest level, so expect closer to sixty kilometres. For a daily ten-kilometre commute each way, that means charging once a week. The battery is removable, so you can plug it in indoors while the bike stays in the shed. Charging takes overnight, so connect it as soon as you get home.

Low step-through or high frame

We sell the Prestige in both versions, and it’s a real choice—not a matter of color. With a low step-through, you step right through the frame, which is convenient when carrying luggage on the back or when you don’t want to lift your leg high. A high frame is stiffer, and you notice that at higher speeds and with heavier loads as a steadier handling feel. Both versions have the same motor, battery, and drivetrain. If you’re unsure, base your choice on how you get on and off the bike, not on which one looks sportier.

Who is the Vogue Prestige Belt-Drive for?

The 49-centimeter frame is suitable for riders approximately 1.70 to 2.05 meters tall, so this is not a bike for shorter riders. It has front suspension and a suspension seatpost, which makes a difference on cobblestone streets. The bike is designed for one person and intended for paved roads. If you’re looking for something to transport children, consider a longtail or cargo bike. If you’re mainly looking for an affordable option, you’re paying more here than strictly necessary for the mid-drive motor and belt.
