What you get with 14-inch wheels

Small wheels make the bike extremely compact and agile, but you feel the road surface much more clearly than with large wheels. There is no suspension, so cobblestone streets and sunken paving tiles transmit their impact to your wrists and lower back. Where the D3 Pro excels is storage and maneuverability: it fits in a hallway, behind a desk, in a car trunk, or between two train seats without any need to measure and rearrange things.

The 281-watt-hour DMEGC battery has a stated range of approximately 33 kilometers. That is modest and therefore honest: you really can achieve that distance in everyday use. It is more than enough for the last stretch from the station, a trip around town, or a quick errand. Charging takes three to four hours, which is short enough to let you top it up during the day without waiting all evening. A battery lasts longer if you do not routinely run it completely flat and charge it indoors during winter. The stated range is always a test value, so in practice, expect somewhat less.

Disc brakes with motor cutoff

As soon as you pull the brake lever, the motor switches off automatically. That may sound obvious, but it is not: on cheaper models, the motor sometimes continues pushing for a fraction of a second even though you are already braking. On a small, lightweight scooter or folding bike, that is exactly when you want to remain in control. The disc brakes themselves are sufficient for the eighteen-kilo weight over short distances in the city. Brake pads and discs use standard sizes, so they can be replaced at any service point. Hydraulic brakes occasionally need bleeding; otherwise, they require little maintenance. The handlebars have a walk assist that provides assistance up to 6 kilometers per hour while you walk alongside it; above that speed, you have to pedal yourself, so it remains within Dutch regulations.

Folding and carrying

The D3 Pro folds at the frame and handlebars. At eighteen kilos, it is light enough to carry up a flight of stairs with both hands or lift into a car trunk, which is exactly what this size is designed for. The bike is splashproof, so getting caught in a rain shower on the way is no problem. The low step-through makes getting on and off easy, which happens more often with a bike you frequently fold and move than with a city bike.

Who is the Fiido D3 Pro for?

For people with limited space and for the last part of a train journey. The recommended height in our specifications ranges from approximately 1.10 to 1.35 metres, indicating that this model is intended for shorter riders. If you are taller, you will have more room on a 20-inch folding bike. This is not the right choice for long daily distances, heavy luggage or comfort on rough roads. When weighing up your options, consider where you will store the bike, as that often matters more than the specifications. For commuting within built-up areas, this equipment is more than adequate.
