Matte Grey is the lighter of the two versions of the Vogue Artemis that we sell. Whereas matte black gives the frame a sleek, enclosed look, grey makes the lines and integrated lighting more visible. Beneath the paint, nothing changes: an Ananda M81 mid-drive motor with 60 newton metres of torque, a Gates belt, a Shimano Nexus seven-speed hub and suspension in both the fork and seat post. The questions we hear most often are about comfort and Vogue as a brand.

Is the Vogue Artemis a comfortable bike

Its construction suggests that it is. There is suspension in both the front fork and the seat post, so both points supporting your weight are cushioned. On cobblestone streets and over speed bumps, that noticeably reduces strain on your wrists and lower back. The 28-inch wheels also handle poor road surfaces better than small wheels. One thing to note: a suspension seat post moves with your pedalling, so you feel slightly less directly connected to the bike. You get used to that within a few rides. Mid-drive motor with 60 newton metres of torque

The Ananda M81 is positioned at the bottom bracket and delivers its power through the gears. This makes pedalling itself easier, rather than giving you a push from behind. Sixty newton metres is sufficient for flat terrain and bridges, and less pronounced than the 80 newton metres found in heavier versions. For a comfort-focused city bike, that works well: less torque means more measured power consumption and therefore more kilometres from the same battery. Small differences like these become more significant the more often you use the bike.

Gates belt and Nexus hub

The belt does not need lubricating, does not rust and keeps your clothes clean. Together with a Nexus seven-speed hub, all the moving parts are enclosed, giving rain and road salt little chance to cause problems. For a bike used outdoors in both winter and summer, that makes the difference between annual maintenance and constant adjustments. Two things to know: replacing the belt is a job for a workshop, and switching to a different gear ratio is not straightforward. Range of the Vogue Artemis Matt Grey

With 468 watt-hours, the stated range is approximately 90 kilometers. That is respectable for this capacity and is partly due to the low resistance of the belt drive and the enclosed hub. You can achieve those 90 kilometers in the lowest assist setting on flat terrain. In the highest setting with luggage, you will get closer to fifty to sixty kilometers. For a daily commute of ten kilometers each way, that means approximately one charge per week. Do not leave the battery outside in freezing temperatures, as this will reduce its capacity over time.

Who is this version for?

The 50-centimeter frame with a low step-through suits riders of approximately 1.70 to 2.05 meters, so this is not a bike for shorter people. The Artemis is designed for one person and made for paved roads. At 26 kilograms, its weight is typical for this equipment, but it is too heavy to lift frequently. For carrying children or large groceries, a longtail or cargo bike is a better choice. The matte finish is also more prone to scratches than a gloss finish. For commuting within built-up areas, this equipment is more than adequate. Thanks to the MIK system on the rear rack, you can switch between a bag, basket, or crate in one movement.
