What makes a longtail fatbike different

A longtail has a longer rear frame than a standard bicycle. This provides carrying space without making the electric bike wider, which is the difference compared with a cargo bike. You can still get through a doorway and into a bike rack normally, while carrying luggage or a passenger. The Q10 also has a cargo basket at the front, included as standard. Range and charging

According to the specifications, the 48V, 15Ah battery provides a range of approximately 70 kilometers. That figure applies to riding without much cargo on flat terrain. If you fill the basket with groceries or take someone on the back, the range drops noticeably, because the bike's own weight of 45 kilograms already requires power. Charging takes approximately three hours, which is remarkably short for this capacity and means you can top it up during the day without waiting an entire evening. A battery lasts longer if you do not regularly run it completely flat and charge it indoors during winter.

Low step-through and weight

The Q10 has a low step-through, and on a bike of this size that is no luxury. With luggage on the back or in the front basket, you do not want to have to swing your leg over a high frame. The aluminum frame keeps the weight somewhat under control, but 45 kilograms is still a lot. You notice little of that while riding because the weight is positioned low and the motor does the work. Maneuvering while stationary, putting it on its stand, and pushing it backward do require strength.

Brakes and suspension

Hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear are not optional but essential on a loaded longtail. Once loaded, you can easily weigh close to a hundred kilos, so you need to be able to stop without using your entire hand. The Q10 also has front and rear suspension, which makes more of a difference on a long bike than on a short one: the rear wheel goes over speed bumps after you have already crossed them. It has seven gears, which is more than enough for flat terrain. The brake pads and discs use standard sizes, so they can be replaced at any service point.

Who is the OUXI Q10 for?

For anyone who regularly carries things but does not want or cannot store a cargo bike. The recommended rider height ranges from approximately 1.50 to 1.95 metres, and the maximum total weight is 150 kilos. One thing to bear in mind: the Q10 is designed for one person, so if you want to carry a child on the rear, you should carefully check what is and is not allowed. If you want to carry two children, a true longtail with double seating is more suitable. For commuting within built-up areas, this equipment is more than sufficient.
