OUXI V8 Ultra: the V8 for two people

The OUXI V8 Ultra is the model in the V8 range built for riding with two people. A long seat, footrests on the frame, front and rear suspension and, according to our product data, a maximum total weight of 150 kg. Next to a regular V8, the sturdier rear stands out, and so does the lock: the Ultra starts with an NFC card and has an alarm. If you search for "V8 Ultra", you will find three versions: the Ultra, the Ultra Max and the Ultra Mini. They look alike, but they ride and charge differently. Below you can read which one suits you.

V8 Ultra, Ultra Max or Ultra Mini?

The V8 Ultra has one removable 48 V, 15 Ah battery, 720 Wh in total. According to our product data that gives you around 60 km, depending on your weight, the wind and the assistance level. With two people in the highest setting you get less.

The V8 Ultra Max is the same bike with two batteries, 1440 Wh together. That is twice the capacity, so you charge less often. Handy if you ride with two people every day or make long trips. Both are listed at 40 kg.

The V8 Ultra Mini is smaller. It has 16 inch wheels instead of 20 inch, a 374 Wh battery and, according to our product data, front suspension only. It weighs around 30 kg and suits riders of roughly 1.20 to 1.70 m. If you want the Ultra mainly to ride together, the Mini is not the obvious choice.

There is also a skinny bike version of the V8 Ultra with narrower tyres. It rolls more easily on tarmac but lacks the comfort of the thick 20x4 inch tyres.

Riding with two people

That is what the V8 Ultra is made for. The seat runs through to the back and the footrests are fixed to the frame, so a passenger does not sit with dangling legs. Do work out the total weight: you, your passenger and your luggage together may not exceed 150 kg. With two people the bike steers heavier at low speed and your range drops. For rides to school, work or the sports club that is no problem.

Hydraulic disc brakes are no luxury at 40 kg plus two people. They are easier to dose than mechanical brakes and keep working in the rain. The front and rear suspension and the wide tyres soak up speed bumps and sunken paving. You shift with seven gears.

Alarm, NFC and sizing of the V8 Ultra

The Ultra starts with an NFC card instead of a key. The alarm goes off when someone touches the locked bike. That will not stop everyone, but it makes rolling it away from a busy bike rack much less attractive. An extra lock is still sensible on a bike of this size.

According to our product data the frame suits riders of roughly 1.50 to 1.95 m. It has a high step-in, so you swing your leg over the frame. At 40 kg you want ground-floor storage. If you mostly ride alone and want a lighter bike, a standard V8 often suits you better.
