Matte blue is the most distinctive color in the Tomos EB 03 lineup, while the rest of the Tomos range is mainly available in shades of gray and green. This version has a 50-centimeter frame with a low step-through, so you can step straight through it. Otherwise, you get the same features as on the other versions: a 360-watt-hour battery, hydraulic disc brakes, 28-inch wheels, and a weight of 25 kilograms.

Low step-through on a 50-centimeter frame

With a step-through frame, you step straight through the bike instead of swinging your leg over a top tube. If you ride longer distances every day, you will be better off with an EB 16 or higher because of the battery capacity.

The 360-watt-hour battery is rated for up to 70 kilometers, measured in the lowest assistance level on flat terrain. Realistically, expect 40 to 50 kilometers. For a five-kilometer one-way commute, it will last you an entire week. Charging takes four hours, which is quick for this capacity and means you can top it up during the day instead of waiting all evening. Do not leave the battery outside in freezing temperatures, as this helps preserve its capacity over time. You can charge it from a regular wall outlet, so no dedicated power supply is needed.

Hydraulic brakes on the entry-level model

The fact that the EB 03 has hydraulic disc brakes while the more expensive EB 11 and EB 12 use rim brakes is noteworthy. Hydraulic brakes require less hand pressure, offer finer modulation, and do not lose any of their effectiveness in the rain because they grip a separate disc. On a twenty-five-kilogram bike, that is comfortable, and the difference is noticeable in wet weather and on a descent with luggage. The lights are permanently mounted on the bike and run on the main battery. When the bike is delivered, briefly check the brake lever reach; you can adjust it in a few seconds.

For those who take short to medium-length rides, want to get on and off easily, and are looking for a color not otherwise available in the EB range. The recommended height is approximately 1.70 to 2.05 meters, and the maximum total weight is 150 kilograms. Two points to note: 360 watt-hours is limited for long distances, and matte paint is more prone to scratches and harder to touch up than glossy paint.
