We sell the OUXI GT16 in two colors, and orange is the more eye-catching of the two. Within the GT range, this is the mini model, with 16-inch wheels compared with the 20-inch wheels of the GT-20. Black makes the moped-style shape look especially dark and compact, while orange really highlights the frame. Technically, there is no difference between the two: the same 16-inch wheels, the same battery, the same brakes, and the same dual suspension system. Your choice here is purely about appearance, not performance. Before ordering, people usually ask us about speed, range, and whether the model might be too small for an adult. How fast does the OUXI GT16 orange go?

Up to 25 kilometers per hour, after which the assistance stops. The 250W motor only helps while you pedal. The only lever on the handlebars is a walk-assist function that provides assistance up to 6 kilometers per hour while you walk alongside the bike, so you cannot set off without pedaling. This means the GT16 is considered a regular electric bicycle in the Netherlands: no registration plate, no helmet requirement, and no statutory insurance requirement. Its moped-style appearance does not change that. In orange, that appearance is even more noticeable, which has two sides. It looks great on the streets, but it is also more visible to anyone looking to take a bike.

Range and the battery

The 48V 20Ah lithium-ion battery provides approximately 80 kilometers per charge. This figure comes from the manufacturer and assumes favorable conditions. If you ride with a heavy load, use the highest assistance level, and face a headwind, you will not reach that distance. For everyday use, 60 to 70 kilometers is a more realistic guideline. The battery is removable, so you can take it indoors and plug it into a wall outlet. That is convenient when your bike is kept in a shed without electricity.

Brakes, suspension, and handling

Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear. They require little squeezing force and maintain their braking performance in wet conditions. This is more important on a short bike than on a long one, because your weight shifts forward more quickly when braking hard. The orange GT16 has suspension both front and rear. With 16-inch wheels, you naturally feel cobblestones and curbs more clearly than with large wheels, and this dual suspension system absorbs the worst of it. You shift using Shimano’s seven gears.

GPS tracking and NFC lock

A GPS tracker is included as standard, and you start the bike with an NFC pass, not a key. So there is no key to lose or have copied. A tracker will not automatically recover your bike, but it does give the police a lead, and insurers view it positively. That is especially reassuring with an orange frame that stands out everywhere. Both features are already activated on delivery, so you do not need to order or install anything afterward. An alarm system is part of the standard equipment and responds when someone pulls on the bike.

Who is the orange GT16 for?

The short frame and small wheels make this model comfortable for shorter riders and short trips through the city. If you are tall, you will sit somewhat hunched over, and a 20-inch fat bike will be more comfortable. Two other things to keep in mind: the step-over height is high, so you swing your leg over the frame, and the bike is designed for one person. If you want to take a child or groceries with you, you should choose a larger model.
