That is the figure that sets the Puch E-Nova apart from almost everything else in this price range, and it comes from a 748-watt-hour battery combined with a Bafang Dual Drive motor. Puch is a name many people know from mopeds, but these days the brand mainly makes comfortable city bikes. The E-Nova is a good example: 28-inch wheels, hydraulic brakes, and a relaxed riding position.

Range of 160 kilometers

The 748-watt-hour battery is large for a city bike, where 500 to 600 is more common. That 160-kilometer figure applies in the lowest assistance mode on flat terrain with no wind, so it is an upper limit. In the highest mode with luggage, you will get closer to eighty. That is still a lot: for someone who rides ten kilometers each way every day, it means charging once a week or less. A full charge takes six hours, so you can do it overnight. Do not leave the battery outside in freezing temperatures, as that will reduce its capacity over time.

High step-through and frame size

This version has a high 55-centimeter frame. It is stiffer than a step-through frame, which you notice at higher speeds and when carrying luggage as a more stable steering feel. You do have to swing your leg over it. The recommended rider height here is approximately 1.70 to 2.05 meters.

Who is the Puch E-Nova for?

For commuters who ride longer distances and do not want to charge the battery every day. The maximum total weight is 150 kilos, which is more than enough for luggage. One thing to note: the specifications for this model do not mention suspension, so you will feel cobblestone streets more than you would on a bike with a suspension fork. This is not a problem on asphalt and bike paths. If you often ride on rough surfaces, consider a version with suspension. When making your decision, also consider where you will store the bike, as that often matters more than the specifications.
