Of all the fatbikes we sell, the V20 is the model most frequently searched for on Google, and the V20 Limited is a version with a large battery. Eighteen amp-hours at 48 volts, which amounts to a range of approximately 80 kilometers. You also get the familiar V20 design: 20-inch tires, dual suspension, hydraulic brakes, and room for two people. The questions that keep coming up on search pages about this model are always the same. Is it road-legal, what is the difference compared with the Pro, and how far can you really go? We address those questions below.

Is the V20 Limited legal in the Netherlands?

Yes. It has a 250W motor, the assistance cuts out at 25 kilometers per hour, and the bike will not move without pedaling. This makes it an electric bicycle under Dutch regulations: no license plate, no driving license, no helmet requirement, and no mandatory insurance. The fact that a fatbike looks heavier than a city bike does not change that. What does matter is that if you have it modified to go faster, it falls into a different category, you are breaking the law, and the warranty is void.

Difference between the V20 Limited and the V20 Pro

The basic design is the same; the difference lies in the equipment. The Limited runs on 48V 18Ah and offers a range of around 80 kilometers, whereas the standard versions have a shorter range. The finish is also different: a different color scheme and different accents. If range is your main priority, look at the battery. If appearance matters more, you should compare them side by side, because the versions look less alike in person than they do in photos. Both have the same 250W motor.

Range and charging

Approximately 80 kilometers according to the stated specifications, measured in an average assistance mode on flat terrain. If you ride continuously in the highest mode or carry someone on the back, that drops to around fifty. For a ten-kilometer one-way commute, that means roughly one charge per week. A full charge takes six hours, so this is a bike you plug in in the evening. You can click the battery out and take it indoors if the bike is kept in a shed without an outlet.

Two people and the weight

The V20 Limited is approved for two people, with a maximum total weight of 150 kilograms. Footrests and a long seat are included. This makes it popular with students who ride to school together. The downside is the weight of the bike itself: 38 kilograms. You cannot simply carry that up a flight of stairs, and you will not get it onto a train either. If your only storage space is upstairs, this is not the right model, and you would be better off looking at a lighter e-bike.

Who is the V20 Limited for?

Riders between approximately 1.50 and 1.95 meters tall fit this frame well, so it suits most adults and teenagers. The step-over height is high: you have to swing your leg over the frame. For anyone who finds that difficult, for example because of a stiff hip, a fatbike with a low step-through is more comfortable. If you are looking for a bike for long daily distances on asphalt, an e-bike with larger wheels is more efficient. The V20 is at its best in the city and on shorter rides.
