You may know Nardo Grey from sports cars: matte, cool, and without shine. On a step-through frame with an integrated battery, it creates a bike that looks sleek without trying to be sporty. QM Wheels also calls this model the D50, so both names refer to the same bike. The equipment is identical to the other versions of the V20 Comfort Pro: a 250W motor, frame-integrated battery, front and rear suspension, hydraulic brakes, and a low step-through.

What makes the V20 Comfort Pro different

The step-through frame is the whole point. Whereas you have to swing your leg over the frame on a regular V20, here you simply step through the electric bike. With luggage on the back or while wearing a long coat, that makes a difference every time. The battery is also integrated into the frame instead of being visibly mounted on it, which looks sleeker and protects the battery better from rain. The rest is familiar V20: 20-inch fatbike tires, dual suspension, and seven gears. It may sound like a detail, but it adds up on your daily route.

Range and charging

The integrated battery has a capacity of 48V and 15 amp-hours and delivers approximately 60 kilometers according to the specifications. That applies with average assistance on flat terrain without a passenger. If you take someone with you or ride constantly in the highest mode, you will get less. A full charge takes four to six hours, so overnight charging is sufficient. Because the battery is built in, you take the bike to the power outlet instead of bringing the battery inside separately. Do not leave the battery outside in freezing temperatures; this helps preserve its capacity over time.

Riding with two people

The bike is approved for two people up to a total weight of 150 kilos. The low step-through is especially useful when carrying a passenger, because getting onto a high frame is the most difficult part. With someone riding on the back, the bike steers more heavily at low speeds and the range decreases noticeably. For short rides together, that makes little difference. For long trips with two people, a version with a larger battery is the wiser choice.

Brakes, suspension and tires

Hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear. With a net weight of 38 kilos and the option to ride with two people, that is not a luxury but a necessity. There is suspension all around, which, together with the wide 20-inch tires, absorbs speed bumps, tram tracks and loose paving stones. Seven Shimano gears are more than sufficient for flat terrain. Who is this version for?

For riders approximately 1.50 to 1.95 metres tall who are looking for the V20 design with a low step-through and a matte, understated finish. One thing to keep in mind with a matte finish: the paint is more susceptible to scratches and stains than gloss, and touch-ups are more difficult. If you often park the bike in a crowded bike rack, take this into account. Also, 38 kilos is not something you carry up a flight of stairs, so you will want to be able to store it on the ground floor. Anyone who rides it daily will notice these choices sooner than someone who only takes an occasional ride.
