Purple is the boldest color available for the V20 Comfort Pro. On a fat bike with wide tires and a step-through frame, it works surprisingly well, as the color makes the substantial design feel a little lighter. At QM Wheels, this model is also called the D50, so you will come across both names when searching. The technology is the same as in the other versions: a 250W motor, a frame-integrated battery, dual suspension, hydraulic brakes, and a low step-through.

What makes the Comfort Pro different

The low step-through is what sets it apart from a regular V20. Instead of swinging your leg over a high frame, you step straight through it, which is more convenient with luggage on the back or when wearing a long coat. The second difference is the battery, which is integrated into the frame rather than visibly mounted on it. This looks neater and keeps rain out more effectively. The rest is familiar: 20-inch tires, front and rear suspension, and seven gears. What seems minor on paper is often something you can feel on the road.

Range and charging

The frame-integrated battery is 48V with 15 amp-hours and has a stated range of approximately 60 kilometers. This figure applies with moderate assistance on flat terrain and without a passenger. With someone on the back or in the highest setting, the range will be lower. A full charge takes four to six hours, so plug it in at night. Because the battery is built in, you take the electric bike to the power outlet instead of carrying the battery indoors separately. A battery lasts longer if you do not routinely run it completely flat and charge it indoors during winter.

Riding with two people

Two people are allowed up to a total weight of 150 kilograms. The low step-through is useful here, because with a passenger on the back, getting on a high frame is exactly the tricky part. What you notice with someone else riding along: heavier steering at low speed and a noticeably shorter range. On short rides, this is less noticeable. If you often ride long distances together, a version with a larger battery is the better choice.

Brakes, suspension and tires

Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear are suitable for a 38-kilogram bike that can carry two people. They offer finer modulation than mechanical brakes and keep working when it rains. There is suspension at the front and rear, which, together with the wide 20-inch tires, absorbs uneven road surfaces: speed bumps, tram tracks and sunken paving stones. Seven Shimano gears are more than enough for flat Netherlands. The lights are permanently mounted and run on the main battery. Brake pads and discs use standard sizes, so they can be replaced at any service point.

Who is the V20 Comfort Pro purple for?

For riders approximately 1.50 to 1.95 meters tall who want the V20 with a low step-through frame in a color that stands out. That works both ways: you can find it in a crowded bike rack, but it also catches the eye of anyone who would rather take it with them. A good lock is therefore essential. Also, 38 kilograms cannot be carried up a flight of stairs, so store it on the ground floor. For commuting within built-up areas, this equipment is more than sufficient.
